荔枝树长得不是很好看，不像梅树那样有姿态，大多都只往一个方向（不包括往上）长。虽然，荔枝树长得不是很好看，但是它长出来的果实——荔枝却格外好吃。
荔枝分很多种，有妃子笑、糯米糍、桂味……等。其中，桂味最甜、最好吃。
古时候，宫中皇帝的爱妃杨贵妃想吃荔枝的时候，皇帝就会派人去南方拿荔枝到宫中来给妃子吃。拿到荔枝回皇宫的时候必须连夜赶路，途中还要换好几匹千里马。送到宫中，如果皇帝的爱妃觉得甜的话，皇帝就会奖赏他。如果，回到宫中，荔枝就变质或皇帝的爱妃觉得不甜。那送荔枝的人就会被***掉。如今，到荔枝成熟的季节，全国各地能买来吃，再也不用像以前那样了。苏轼也曾写下：日啖荔枝三百颗，不辞长作岭南人的佳句。
一说到荔枝，我就想起了荔枝“灯笼”。下面我就教大家做荔枝“灯笼”。首先，把外面的皮剥掉。注意，里面的一层薄膜不能剥。然后，在中间剥掉一圈。上面的和下的保留。最后，把上面的薄膜往上掀开一点，下的薄膜往下掀一点。这样就做好了。
荔枝不但好吃，可做成荔枝“灯笼”还好玩，荔枝的叶子还可以下火呢！俗话说：“一个荔枝三把火。”荔枝吃多了会上火。不过拿荔枝的叶子拿来煲水就正好可以下火。

阳春三月，细雨如丝，我来到外婆的荔枝园，荔枝树贪婪地吸吮着春姑娘送来的雨露。嫩绿的叶子下藏着许多小花，就像许多害羞的小姑娘。微风吹过，它微笑着向我点头问好。走近一看，小花上有许多甘露，小花正吸着甘露，迫不及待地等待开花结果的时刻。
初夏，阳光灿烂，我来到外婆的荔枝园。绿绿的荔枝挂在树上，在阳光的陪衬下，它就像一颗闪闪发亮的绿宝石。摘下一颗，剥开皮，只见一层薄薄的果肉，轻轻一咬，一种麻麻的、酸酸的、涩涩的味道令人直吐舌头。在阳光的照射下，小荔枝正吸收养分，想着自己长大的样子。
盛夏，骄阳似火。我又来到了外婆的荔枝园。荔枝已经成熟了。摘下一颗，它约高五厘米，一棵树上就有大约有200颗荔枝。荔枝的外皮是那样的红，一颗颗高高地挂在枝头上，摸起来很粗糙，凹凹凸凸的。不过，你千万不要嫌弃它的外表不“友善”，而不喜欢它，那你就品尝不到里面的美味了。只要你轻轻剥开那薄薄的皮，你就会看到那晶莹剔透的果肉。这时你会对他刮目相看，放进嘴里，轻轻一咬，香甜的果汁从牙齿甜到舌尖，沁入心田。
荔枝那诱人的滋味还吸引了众多的文人墨客去赞颂它，更有诗人发出“不妨长作岭南人”的慨叹。这么好吃的荔枝，你也来尝一尝吧。
